Michael John Archer, 60, of Richmond, died Monday, October 11, 2021, at Lafayette Regional Hospital in Lexington.

Michael was born on February 16, 1961, in Dawson, NE, the son of John D. and Mary Alice (Sumptur) Archer. He was united in marriage to Paula Marie Clark of Pisgah, IA on October 11, 1980; they later divorced.

Survivors include, son, Jon (Melanie) Archer of Richmond; daughter, Kimberly Clark of Richmond; mother, Mary Alice Sumptur of Bolivar; grandchildren, Alexis Alexander, Hunter Clark, Aspen Hines, Paisley Archer, and Bentley Archer; three brothers, Steven Archer and Paul Archer both of Grandview and Mark Archer of Bolivar; two sisters, Debby (Dirk) Ross and Pam (Tim) Watts.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mike was reared and educated in Orrick. Mike graduated from Maple Woods College. He worked as a salesman in plastic manufacturing in the Richmond and Kansas City area. Michael was all about the outdoors and loved doing anything that involved being outdoors. He loved riding and working on his Harley, drawing/sketching, fishing, traveling, working with, and riding horses. He was all about his family and he especially loved his grandkids. He was a veteran who proudly served his country in the Army National Guard.

The family humbly suggests memorial contributions be made to Michael J. Archer memorial fund. Memorial contributions can be dropped off or mailed to in care of the family to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main – P. O. Box 190, Richmond, 64085.
