Bessie "Naomi" (Thorington) Miller
Bessie “Naomi” (Thorington) Miller (April 13, 1931) passed away at her home the morning of October 5th, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 67 years, Wayne L. Miller and one son, Jerry W. Miller. Surviving family include daughters Terri Miller and Beverly Jackson (Tim) and sons Mark Miller (Yvonne), Jim Miller (Cheryl), and Jeff Miller. Naomi is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. The last living sibling of nine children, Naomi had multiple generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss “Aunt” or “Cuz.”
Naomi initially spent her retirement years traveling with Wayne in their motorhome, making friends wherever they traveled. She enjoyed life fully and after traveling ended, she spent much of her time visiting family, quilting, playing bridge, line dancing, and baking. Very few family or social functions were attended without her dinner or cinnamon rolls. She was an active member of the Richmond Red Hattas and the Richmond Eastern Star chapter.
Naomi gave generously of her heart and time all of her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She did not want a funeral so a Celebration of Life will take place in her birthplace area in Novinger, Missouri on November 13 at 2:30 in the afternoon at the Community Center. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to the Richmond Order of Eastern Star #255. Please mail to Lloyd Lyon, Secretary of Richmond Eastern Star #255, 18988 Highway E, Carrollton, MO 64633.
