Norborne Hardin-Central falls a few yards shy of 2OT victory
BRAYMER – he Aggies almost got Andrew Watson his second win as Norborne Hardin-Central’s varsity 8-man football coach Sept. 24.
NHC took Braymer/Breckenridge to double overtime before dropping the meeting at Braymer 40-34. It was knotted at 12 at halftime and tied at 26 after four quarters, Watson said Monday by phone. Both teams scored a touchdown and two-point conversion to force double overtime, he said.
In OT period No. 2, the Bobcats scored “kind of on a busted play,” in which freshman quarterback Jordan Haley “kind of scrambled,” found a receiver in NHC’s end zone and connected, Watson said. After stopping Braymer/ Breckenridge’s twopoint conversion attempt, the Aggies “got all the way to the 3-yard line” on their possession; however, they lost the ball – and the game – on a botched snap, he said.
The Aggies, 1-4 overall, “showed a lot of resiliency” in their first overtime game this season, Watson said.
