Daniel Martin “Dan” Powell, 64, of Excelsior Springs, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Liberty Hospital after a long hard-fought battle with complications from Covid – 19. 

Dan was born on October 30, 1956, in Rahway, NJ one of seven children born to Frederick Earl and Donna Joyce (MacArthur) Powell, III.  He was united in marriage to Glenda Sue McCrary of Excelsior Springs on February 14, 1982; she survives of the home. 

Additional survivors include: daughter, Belinda Jo Wall of Excelsior Springs; step daughters, Angela Easley and Kimberly (Lamondo) Wyrick both of Excelsior Springs; four grandchildren, Trey Corum, Cheyanne Corum, Blake Corum and Isabel Powell; three great grandchildren, Jayce Reeves, Arabella Reeves and Kaison McCurley; and another great granddaughter on the way Harper Elizabeth McCurley; three brothers, Dave (Connie) Powell, Jeff (Peggy) Powell, and Todd (Kim) Powell all of Richmond; three sisters, Linda Battagler of Raytown, Judy (Tom) Mallory of Madison, and Beth (Jimmy) Rogers of Covington, GA; his many friends and one big church family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Dan was reared and educated in several states including New Jersey, Wisconsin and Minnesota, then moving to Camden and graduating from Richmond High School in 1975. He was self employed owning and operating Pinnacle Service a banking equipment servicing business. He would go on to work for AT & T and retired in 2011. He was an active member of the Pisgah Baptist Church where he was on the mowing team helping people mow their yards who were not able. He was also on the accounting committee. Dan was active in the Republican party in Ray County where he was instrumental in getting some of the first republicans elected in the county. He liked going to auctions buying and selling things. He was known for helping people. 

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Pisgah Baptist Church Memorial contributions can either be dropped by or mailed to in care of the family to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main St. – P. O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085 

Visitation with memorial services will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Pisgah Baptist Church, Excelsior Springs, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m.  with services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Private family inurnment will be in held at a later date.   Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of arrangements.
