HARDIN – The Bulldogs take a senior-laden squad into their varsity softball season. Of the 11 players on coach and Richmond High School alumna Brandee Doyle’s roster, five are seniors: Sadie Clariday, Morgan Finley, Abby McNelly, Alyssa Rechtermann and Mackenzie Smith. All have played four years, except Rechtermann, who took off one season, Doyle said. Rechtermann said having a senior-laden team is great. “We all kind of know what we’re doing and it’s great for teaching the younger girls … (about) what to expect when they get up here, and (how to) have fun, be a team and be a family,” she said Aug. 10 at the Hardin American Legion and Auxiliary fields. Rechtermann and McNelly are team captains. McNelly is “honored to have the role,” she said. “I’m ready to lead my team, and hopefully, take us far this year,” McNelly said.
