OJT for Comstock at Orrick volleyball’s helm
ORRICK – Mitch Comstock is Orrick’s new varsity volleyball coach, succeeding Trevor Ballard.
As someone with zero volleyball experience, Comstock finds himself learning on the job.
“I told the girls when I took this job that I would do everything I could to become the best coach that I could become to help them become the best players they could become,” he said Aug. 10.
Comstock said he grew up in Oskaloosa, Iowa, when his high school made the state tournament three seasons. He also attended Central College, an NCAA Division III school in Pella, Iowa, that won national titles during 1998-2000.
“I’ve got a niece that played, I’ve got a lot of friends that have played or coached, so … I’ve really relied on them to kind of get me … going on the things that our girls need to work on,” Comstock said.
Comstock has been with the school district almost 20 years and cites his stability as a strength the program needs.
