GAP distribution at Richmond church
RICHMOND – GAP Assistance of Ray County has opened a second distribution center for Ray County families.
The distribution center is at the Richmond United Methodist Church.
GAP, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, distributes diapers, non-food baby items, women’s hygiene items, soap, bleach, toiletries, laundry and dish soap, and similar items to those in need.
GAP literally tries to fill the “gap” between what state and federal aid provides to people with financial difficulties and what the government fails to provide.
Diapers remain the most distributed item, as they are increasingly more expensive by the year and children go through a lot of diapers in a day, based on information from GAP Assistance of Ray County. Often, financially strapped parents will try to extend the use of diapers by reusing disposable diapers, which can cause health problems.
