Aggies see improvement as second varsity team camp starts
NORBORNE – The start of this week’s camp proves to Norborne Hardin-Central lineman J.W. Doyle and varsity coach Andrew Watson that the Aggies have improved this summer.
Doyle and Watson agreed the Aggies’ workout Monday at Norborne to kick off the five-day camp was a step up from their first team camp, held in June at Hardin-Central.
“It felt like we ran the plays a lot better and we … feel like we’re getting to know them,” Doyle, the son of Hardin-Central softball coach Brandee Doyle, said.
Watson attributed the improvement to two factors. One was an uptick in numbers from the first camp. The other was the presence of assistant coach/defensive coordinator Justin Donald.
“He was having a personal issue the last camp, so having him here allows us to do a lot more defensively and helps also with our attitude and our culture and bringing the energy,” Watson said.
Donald also set the pace as he and the other coaches ran wind sprints with the Aggies.
