Expect detours as street work begins

RICHMOND – The city is doing street overlays from now through July 22. The work means motorists can expect detours in various parts of the city this week and next as street surfaces are improved. The city slated work on all streets to begin on different days this week. Some work might be completed earlier or later than the expected ending date, depending on the weather. Work started Monday in the 2nd Ward on Richmond Avenue, between Sunset and Wilson boulevards; on Dunns Lane, between North Garner and North Thornton; and on Northview, between 207 Northview and Brookwood. More overlays started Tuesday: • In the 1st Ward, on Summit, from South Thornton to South Camden; on South College, from West Lexington to Summit; and on West Royle, from Camden Street to the west 40; and • Second Ward, on Pike Street, from North Gardner to Maple Street; Short Street, from Wilson Boulevard to Maple Street; and on Maple Street, from Short Street to Bay.
