Deloris Bertha Plymell, 78, of Richmond, died Friday, July 9, 2021, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, surrounded by her loving family.

Deloris was born on September 29, 1942, in Slater, the daughter of Marvin Earl and Frances M. (Tennill) Fizer.  She was united in marriage to Larry Junior Plymell of Marshall on June 27, 1959; he preceded her in death on August 8, 1990.

Survivors include: three sons: Richard Plymell of Independence, Robert (Yvette) Plymell of Richmond, and Blain (Amy) Plymell of Blue Springs; three daughters: Denise (Dwight) Dickmeyer of Higginsville, Sarah (Jesse) Barger of Rayville, and Randi (Kevin) Kimm of Iowa City, IA; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and sister, Nancy Roepe of Odessa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Larry Junior Plymell, II, daughter, Vicki Royer, two brothers, George L. Fizer and her twin brother, Dean M. Fizer, two sisters, Alice M. Taylor and Mary Frances Crawford, and four siblings in infancy, Ida, David, Helen, and Roger.

Deloris was reared and educated in the area of her birth, in Slater, Marshall, and Gillam.  She was a housewife and homemaker, busy raising her family.  Deloris’ children and grandchildren were her whole life.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and shopping.  Deloris loved watching the Hallmark channel on TV and her favorite movie was Dirty Dancing.  She was known to have a heavy foot when it came to driving and a heavy hand when it came to discipline.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Deloris Plymell Memorial Fund.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street - P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
