R.G. Fields
R.G. Fields, 87, of Braymer, died Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Oak Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care in Richmond.
R.G. was born on September 12, 1933, in Cedar County, the son of Ora “Oat” Fields and Pearl Mae (Green) Fields. He was first united in marriage to Betty Jean Phillips in March of 1957; they later divorced. He was then united in marriage to Brenda Diane Kern of Braymer on October 19, 2014; she preceded him in death on April 18, 2019.
Survivors include: son, Rodney (Kathy) Fields of Independence; three daughters: Regina (Troy) Keithley of Weaubleau, Beyonca (Bob) Gravedoni of Ishpeming, MI, and Rowena (Doug) Evans of Rayville; and six grandchildren: Jessica Fahrenbruch, Zachary Evans, Tyler (Jamie) Evans, Alexandra Gravedoni, Sarah Keithley, and Nathaniel (Eliza) Gravedoni, and Jonathan McGee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and seven siblings, Eunice Elliston, Doris Todd, Dot Smith, Bonnie Smith, Fern Cruse, Floyd Fields, and Betty Raines.
R.G. was reared and educated in the area of his birth. He was a Mason for 55 years. R.G. served in the United States Army and fought during the Korean conflict. He always said, “the good Lord won’t put more on your back than you can pack.”

Masonic services will be held at 11:45 A.M. on Monday, July 12, 2021, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with memorial services to follow. Inurnment will be held in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville following the service. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and Ray County Veterans.
