Relocation, fundamentals part of H-C softball camp
HARDIN – The Bulldogs had to relocate to start this week’s softball camp.
Originally, they were scheduled to begin camp Monday at the Hardin American Legion and Auxiliary baseball and softball fields. Instead, they began that day at the Hardin-Central schoolhouse, varsity head coach and junior high co-coach Brandee Doyle said.
“We could’ve ended up getting on the field, but they had a game scheduled and it was kind of iffy with the weather,” Doyle, a 1992 Richmond High School graduate, said Tuesday. “So we just went out in front of the school and worked a lot … (on) throwing.”
On Tuesday, the Bulldogs were back at the baseball and softball fields, where they worked on batting.
“We did a few grounders when we first started practice, just because we did not yesterday. … But otherwise, we have totally switched to just batting – swinging, drills,” Doyle said.
Doyle said the plan was to focus on catching fly balls Wednesday and to “mix it up” Thursday.
