WARRENSBURG – David Wood’s June 12 outing at Central Missouri Speedway went “a lot better” than his other evenings this stock car racing season. “I’ve had motor trouble from the beginning of the year, and then, I … (couldn’t) get the car to go forward,” Wood said. “We finally got it to go forward tonight. We made a lot of progress. Big jump.” That progress translated into a seventhplace finish in his heat race and an 11th-place finish in the feature race in the A-modified class for the Richmond resident and 2001 Richmond High School graduate. Wood was in the faster of the two heats for his initial race, he said. “I finished behind all of them, but I kept up,” Wood, who started in the third position, said. “And that’s the main goal, for right now.” Wood achieved similar goals in the feature race. “I kept up and stayed on the lead lap,” he said. “Car went forward.
