HIGGINSVILLE – Four area athletes are headed to the Class 1 state track and field meet. Orrick and Hardin-Central each qualified two athletes for the competition, slated for Saturday at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City. Zander Stevinson and Blake Buchanan qualified for Orrick. Korbin Pugh and Alexis Yockel qualified for Hardin-Central. Stevinson punched his ticket by placing second in the boys high jump at the Sectional 4 meet May 15 at Lafayette County of Higginsville, clearing 1.81 meters. Buchanan qualified by placing third in the boys javelin with his throw of 42.21. Pugh placed fourth at the Sectional 4 meet in the boys 100-meter dash with his time of 11.5 seconds. Yockel placed fourth in the girls shot put, throwing 10.64. The top four finishers in each event advanced from sectionals to state.
