Comstock, Grimm secure spots in Class 1 state tourney at Nixa
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – On May 17-18, Dylan Comstock will play in his last state high school boys golf tournament. And there will be one other Orrick Bearcat there with him.
Comstock, who graduated Sunday from Orrick High School, qualified for the Class 1 state tournament next week at Fremont Hill Country Club in Nixa by placing second Monday at the Class 1 District 4 Tournament at Excelsior Springs Golf Course – Orrick’s home course. Those who placed among the top 18 at districts advanced.
“I am very proud of how Dylan played not only at Districts, but this whole season,” Orrick coach Mitch Comstock, Dylan Comstock’s dad, stated Tuesday via email. “He has grown so much since his last high school golf season two years ago.”
Dylan Comstock shot a 77 (+5) for the 18-hole, par-72 round to secure his runner-up finish. Mid-Buchanan’s Noah Hamilton Hughes edged Comstock for the title with a 76 (+4). Hughes “played a great round of golf,” Mitch Comstock stated.
