Six from Hardin-Central qualify for sectionals

CLEVELAND – The Bulldogs have found “a shiny diamond” in junior sprinter Korbin Pugh, Hardin-Central varsity track coach Kirk Thacker said. Pugh’s late-season performances in the boys 100-meter dash prompted Thacker to give him that designation. One of those performances was May 8 at the Class 1 District 7 meet on the Midway School District campus, where he won the event in 11.48 seconds. “He’s done a good job,” Thacker said. “Really good job.” By winning, Pugh qualified for sectional competition Saturday at Lafayette County of Higginsville. The top four finishers in each event advanced. Pugh was among three Hardin-Central boys who advanced. Connor Tabora, who graduated Sunday, qualified in two events – the 110 high hurdles and the 300 intermediate hurdles. Tabora ran the 110 hurdles in 18.71 and the 300 hurdles in 47.73. “Good day, good racing,” he said. Thacker said he “kind of” persuaded Tabora to run this season.
