Dan L. Flannery died Friday, April 23, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Dan was born March 30, 1949, in Excelsior Springs to Ruth Clevenger Flannery Hull and Lewis D. Flannery. He is survived by his sister, Kathie Mason, Liberty; and his business partner and dear friend of 35 years, Judy Barlow.

After graduating in 1967 from Excelsior Springs High School, he continued his education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, majoring in fine arts.

A creative spirit, Dan pursued a career in interior design. In 1972, he founded Superlatives, a gift, furniture and antiques specialty store. His elegant, innovative yet traditional style was reflected in the store. Legions of clients and friends will miss his dry wit, incredible talent and generous, kind heart.

A private family service will be held at the Old New Garden Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Luke’s Hospice House; the Excelsior Springs Museum and Archives, 101 E. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, MO 64024; or the charity of your choice. Condolences may be made at www.mcgilleymidtownchapel.com.
