Comstock rebounds, ties for fourth at Richmond
RICHMOND – Dylan Comstock summed up his round of golf April 30 at the Richmond Boys Invitational this way: rough front nine, better back nine.
For the front nine of the par-71 round at Shirkey Golf Course, the Orrick senior struggled to keep his tee shots in the fairway, among a few other woes, he said.
“If I could’ve just got off the tee, I would’ve played really well,” Comstock said. “Hit approach shots really … (well) and was putting one of my best putting rounds I’ve ever had.”
Still, Comstock shot well enough to finish with a 77 (+6). Individually, that put him in a tie for fourth with Excelsior Springs’ Ethan Edwards and Pat Johnston of Bishop LeBlond, a private school in St. Joseph.
Orrick coach Mitch Comstock, Dylan’s dad, was pleased with how his son “battled back” from his 41 for the front nine by shooting a 36 for the back nine.
