Spartans reach top five at Richmond Boys Invitational
RICHMOND – Timmy Hamilton’s golf game clicked the last three holes of his round at the Richmond Boys Invitational.
“I’d played bad enough up until that point that I was just like, ‘OK, I’m just going to kind of finish it out,’” Hamilton, a Richmond senior, said. “And then, I just … started hitting the fairway, hitting the green and then putting it close and putting it in.”
By being on target, Hamilton parred the last three holes of the 18-hole, par-71 competition April 30 Shirkey Golf Course. In doing so, he finished with an 81 (+10), putting him in a three-way tie for 12th individually with Maryville’s Trevin Cunningham and St. Joseph Central’s Andrew Wheatley.
Hamilton’s performance would have been better if his putting had been better.
“Oh, man, my putter abandoned me,” Hamilton cracked.
Specifically, Hamilton three-putted on five holes, he said.
