Macaw lands at Bark Bargains
RICHMOND– Bark Bargains supports rescue animals, one of which has taken up residence at the thrift shop, 112 S. College St. in downtown Richmond.
Abby is a green-winged macaw, the second-largest breed of macaw in the world, store manager Jenifer Dickson said.
“This amazing bird now lives in the pet thrift store just off the Richmond square. I met her today when I visited the store. She was rescued, the store owner told me, and she hasn’t been there very long,” a store patron, Janis Kincaid, Excelsior Springs, said.
“She was surrendered to us because the people couldn’t care for her anymore,” Dickson said. “She’s a rescue – Autumn Acres Animal Rescue.”
Sales at Bark Bargains go toward supporting the rescue facility, she said.
People react well to Abby, Dickson said.
“They love her,” she said. “It’s like watching a wild zoo animal right there in front of you.”
Abby needed a lot of care when received, Dickson said Tuesday.
