School, 911 boards each lose member

Posted in:
RICHMOND – Resignations from two boards came after the April elections, meaning the public will not have the chance to vote on replacements. Because of the timing, instead of voters, each board will pick replacements. Why he chose to resign after the time available for members of the public to file for the seat is anyone’s guess, but Jason Morrill tendered his resignation as a Richmond School Board member, effective next month. “He’s moving to the Kansas City area,” Superintendent Greg Darling said. This newspaper reached out to ask Morrill about the timing of the resignation but received no reply. If he had resigned earlier in the year, members of the public could have filed to run for the seat he will vacate in May. By resigning next month, Morrill still will be on the board when his son is scheduled to graduate from Richmond High School. During last week’s 911 Board meeting, President Paul Harris announced member Bob McClelland resigned for medical reasons.
