RICHMOND – Pool roof repairs sank into the deep end, with the whole roof needing replacement.

“Those joists are just a mess,” Park Superintendent Terry Dickey said Monday at the site.

CentiMark Corp., Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, won the bid to repair the roof. CentiMark employee Jacob Towery said rotting joists became evident during removal of part of the roof. One layer of roofing had been put over an older layer.

“They had an old foam coating,” Towery said. “They had a double roof and it failed.”

The foam soaked up and retained moisture, which caused joists that support the roof to deteriorate, he said.

CentiMark Corp. won a batch of city bids totaling $63,020. The batch included redoing the whole pool roof and the front awning.

Southview Pool roof and awning work are set to cost $11,679. Concession area work will cost $36,016.
