Plymell wins finale for Richmond; Spartans take 13th at state
INDEPENDENCE – Ryker Plymell finished his high school career a winner.
The Richmond senior placed third in the 195-pound division at the 91st Boys MSHSAA Wrestling Championships in the Class 1 tournament, held March 10 at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence. He capped his run by defeating Maysville senior Blayke Kolb by a 3-1 decision.
“Pretty exciting – (I) get to go out with a win – and it’s a good feeling,” Plymell said. “It’s just … a little bittersweet knowing this is the last match I (will) ever wrestle.”
But it might not be Plymell’s last-ever match, given the uncertainty of his plans after graduation.
“I don’t know whether I’m going to continue my wrestling career into college or if I’m just going to go work,” he said. “That’s something I need to make up my mind about.”
