Roberta F. Mayer, 86, of St. Joseph, and a former Richmond resident, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.

Roberta was the daughter of Earl Jesse and Irene Marion (Curtis) Ledbetter, born on July 3, 1934, in Sweberg. She graduated from Sweberg High School.

On Aug. 22, 1970, she married Olen Dean Mayer in Las Vegas, Nevada. They had a wonderful life together, sharing many interests, and owning the Rose Court Motel and Bobbi’s Quilting Corner in Richmond.

Roberta was a member of the Knoxville Community Church.

After Olen passed away, she moved to St. Joseph to be closer to her family and attended St. Joseph Grace Evangelical Church, where she helped serve many bereavement dinners.

Roberta was extremely talented and good at everything she did. She liked collecting antique furniture, porcelain dolls and crafting. Roberta was an avid reader, enjoyed painting and owned her own kiln so she could create beautiful ceramics for everyone to enjoy. She and Olen attended many craft shows over the years.

Roberta is survived by her children, Pamela Sairafe of St. Joseph; Debra Brooks and husband John of Richmond; Olen Dean Mayer Jr. of Norman, Oklahoma; Thomas Edward Mayer, also of Norman; Cheree Corderman of St. Joseph; Tamara Grossman and husband Greg of Kidder; and Tonya Holder and husband Monte of Nelson.

Other survivors include one brother, Curtis Ledbetter and wife Viola of Cameron; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Irene Ledbetter; her husband, Olen Dean (Dee) Mayer; two sons, DeWayne Christian Mayer and Alan Lee Forguson; and two brothers, Jerry Ledbetter, and Darwin Ledbetter.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, March 13, at Grace Evangelical Church, 5103 S. 50th Street, St. Joseph, with Pastor Daniel Blakely officiating.

Inurnment will be at a later date in Stewartsville Cemetery.
