Dow Eugene Evans, 77, of Richmond, formally of Norborne, died Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital North in Kansas City.

Dow was born on April 1, 1943, in Norborne, the son of Glenard “Sox” and Geneva (McCorkendale) Evans. He was united in marriage to Darlene M. Schooling of Norborne on March 24, 1961. To this union, their three sons were born. They later divorced.

Dow was reared and educated in Norborne and graduated from Norborne High School. He was manager of the Ray-Carroll Grain Growers office in Carrollton for many years and started working there as a teenager. He also was owner and operator of Dow E. Evans Trucking and was a self-employed farmer. He was of the Lutheran faith. His hobbies and interests included hunting, collecting guns and going to auctions. Farming was a big part of his life. He was an animal lover.

Survivors include: a son, Curtis Evans of Norborne; four grandchildren, Kristy Hill, Kody Evans, Paige Evans and Tori Evans; five great-grandchildren, Darion Bickham, Neveah Hill, Londynn Evans, Tysen Hill and Nixon Evans; and two sisters, Darlene Medley and Betty Dickson, both of Richmond.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Christopher E. Evans and Chad Louis Evans; his brother, Tommy Evans; a sister, Sally Albert; and a grandson, Chad Evans.

Graveside services took place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Richmond Memory Gardens. Dow lay in state from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
