Youth musical deemed success

The Farris Youth Theatre Company (FYTC) pulled in crowds last weekend for performances of the musical Disney’s Lion King Jr. FYTC Director Trish Fields said working with the youth made her directorial debut with a full production fun and exciting. This Disney story follows the adventures of the young lion Simba, played by Elijah Durham, the heir of his father, Mufasa played by Simeon Durham. Simba’s wicked uncle, Scar, played by Ashton Estep, plots to usurp Mufasa’s throne by luring father and son into a stampede of wildebeests. Mufasa is killed but Simba escapes and runs away; later Simba, played by Jasper Gay, returns as an adult to take back his homeland from Scar with the help of his friends. Fields used public curriculums from www.lionkingexperience. com which presented objectives, materials, preparation, videos, group session activities, and journal time.
