A local man walks free after allegedly shooting a Richmond man in the abdomen on Feb. 19. Darren Lee Tackett, 35, of Richmond was being held in Daviess-DeKalb County Jail on a revoked bond from a separate case as police waited for charges to be filed by Ray County Prosecuting Attorney Camille Johnston. However, 19 days later no charges had been filed and Tackett was released. Richmond City Police Chief Scott Bagley’s office was notified of the re- lease one day later. In the case against Tackett, Richmond Police officers responded to the 300 block of West Buchanan Street following a report of a 30-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival of the officers, the scene was secured and medical personnel provided life-saving measures, stated Bagley.
