RICHMOND – Rep. Peggy McGaugh presented Melissa Perkins with a House resolution during the Ray County Commission meeting Nov. 17.

Perkins accepted the resolution in recognition of her late husband, Jeffrey “Jeff” Cole Perkins, a Ray County Sheriff’s Office sergeant.

The resolution in part acknowledged that Jeffrey Perkins had “compiled an impressive list of achievements that included being a sergeant with the Ray County sheriff’s department, where he served with honor; assisting with many community events, such as Shopping with a Sheriff at Christmas; and coaching his children’s sports events.”

Perkins died Oct. 23 from a physical ailment. Melissa Perkins plans to carry on his Shopping with a Sheriff work.
