Southview Lake: Phase two of bank cleanup begins

Southview Lake will be receiving lots of attention, similar to last year, as renovations take place around its western shoreline, as was done last year. There will be a boat ramp extending south along the bank, approximately 750 ft. “The work will include clearing all brush and debris, saving any trees that are good (that will keep the integrity of the bank from eroding),” Recreation Manager Haley Williams said. “Then, they will grade the bank to a level that is suitable for the public and Macey Excavating will add rip rock.” Last year’s work included removing all underbrush, debris and trees except ones marked to save; dredging the north end of the lake to remove vegetation and silt, grading the bank for drainage, lining the bank with rip-rap rock to prevent erosion and clearing the north shoreline from the boat ramp on the west to approximately 450 feet on the east side.
