Sheriff hosts domestic violence awareness event
Ray County Sheriff
Scott Childers and his team highlighted Domestic Violence Awareness Month by hosting the event for the second year in a row last Saturday in Henrietta.
The family-friendly event had bounce houses, an escape room and hotdogs for guests.
Robert Cox, executive director of the Tristn Jevon Center for Recovery, was there with a booth. He said he thought the event was going well.
The Central Missouri Police Academy brought its cadets out to Ray County for community service.
“I’m glad we got a chance to participate and help with a cause that is near to so many people’s hearts,” said Brenden Menego from the academy as he and other cadets volunteered.
There were two self-defense classes. Moves were taught in the classes to get an attacker away, as well as simple striking.
There was a concealand- carry class with 23 students, which cost $50, with all proceeds benefiting the Ray County Citizens Fund that helps area families with basic needs at the Shop with a Sheriff event that takes …
