A Richmond man who faces two felonies appeared in court Tuesday before Ray County Judge Lori Baskins this week. Following his escape from the Ray County Jail in March, Justin Robinson, 39, continues to be held in Caldwell County. During a recent court hearing by video, Baskins informed the defendant the state had suggested one more docket call before the preliminary hearing could be set. Baskins noted in court Robinson continues to seek a private attorney as well. His next docket is set for August 1 at 8:30 a.m. In a separate but related matter, Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers said a recently filed Caldwell County Jail incident report revealed “a shank,” or makeshift knife, was found in Robinson’s jail cell. Caldwell County Sheriff Mitch Allen was unavailable for comment as of press time. The Richmond News will continue to follow this incident.
