Residents disagree with proposed Gill Road closure

Ray County residents shared their thoughts and concerns during a presentation by Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and the Crawford, Murphy and Tilly (CMT) proposed public Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway. MoDOT Administrator of Railroads Troy Hughes, CMT Presenter Matt DeMoss and CMT Sr. Rail Planning Lead Eric Curtit “Highway-Rail Grade Crossing Safety Improvements” last week. “The major comments were related to concerns for closures due to access during flooding and emergency response situations,” said Hughes. DeMoss took the floor and began the presentation. “We were hired by MoDOT, as the engineering consultants on this corridor during the corridor study, looking at opportunities to improve safety along the BNSF Railway subdivision, Ray County and through the little northern part of the state,” said De-Moss.
