The Liberty resident for which a “Silver Alert” was issued was found dead Dec. 7. Bert L. Torrey, 81, was found deceased in Ray County following a 3 p.m. call to the Ray County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD). RCSD Investigator Josh Hamner said Lafayette County Sheriff was first on the scene. “The landowner found a vehicle and a body. They called to have us come to investigate,” said Hamner. “After taking pictures of the scene, we checked his I.D. and found out he was the man under the Clay County Silver Alert.” Clay County Sheriff’s Department (CCSD) posted a Silver Alert on Tuesday, Dec. 5 on its Facebook page describing Torrey and his 2015 Chrysler 200 Sedan.
