Candidates for Eastern Commissioner, Max Hockemeier and Dave Powell, responded to questions at the recent Richmond News Political Forum. Candidates were given two minutes for an opening statement. Powell: “I’m Dave Powell; I have been in Ray County since 1969. I grew up in New Jersey, Minnesota and Wisconsin. I lived here in Ray County since I got out of the military in 1968. I continued to run for Ray County or Richmond City Council for 14 years. After I retired from the city council, I went ahead and ran for Ray County Commissioner, which I’ve been on for four years. I’m running again to get that position back. My biggest concerns are the roads and bridges and Ray County Jail. Some additional issues I’m concerned about are Road and bridge taking care of our buildings and grounds, including the Eagleton Center and the museum.
