Gutierrez pleads not guilty to felonies

The Ray County Court has accepted a not-guilty plea for a man facing two felony charges. Juan-David Gutierrez, 31, is charged with first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy and second-degree sodomy. The range of punishment for first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy is imprisonment in the Missouri Department of Corrections for life or for a term of no less than five years, according to the complaint filed by Missouri Assistant Attorney General Tristin M. Estep. The range of punishment for the class D felony of second-degree sodomy is imprisonment in the custody of the Missouri Department of Corrections for a term of no less than one year and not to exceed seven years; or by imprisonment for a special term not to exceed one in the county jail or other authorized penal institution; or by a fine not to exceed $10,000; or by both imprisonment and a fine.
