Elmira church seeks county help with road bank repairs
After a long wait for reshaping the steep embankment in front of Elmira Baptist Church, the group may be a step closer to resolution after appealing to the Ray County Commissioners.
During a recent meeting, church member David Robinson told commissioners the congregation had been trying for two years to get assistance reshaping the roadside slope so it could be safely rocked and mowed.
“We just want to see if we can get permission to get the county to work on our bank easement in front of our church,” stated Robinson. “It’s really rough and you can’t mow it.”
The request reignited discussions about responsibility for easements, road safety and delays following the retirement of a county employee who had previously promised assistance.
