District begins work on compliance with Senate Bill 68
Missouri lawmakers have passed a new law that will significantly change how students use personal electronic devices in schools, and Richmond R-XVI School District is already working to meet the upcoming requirements.
Senate Bill 68, signed by Governor Mike Kehoe in June, mandates that all public school districts adopt policies limiting or prohibiting student access to cell phones and similar devices during instructional time, meal periods and passing times beginning with the 2025-2026 school year.
Key provisions of the new law include: • School districts must create written policies that clearly outline when and where students may possess or use personal electronic devices
