Council paves way for new business location
Local business owner McKayla Mabery has been granted a conditional use permit (CUP) for a pet daycare and boarding facility located at 806 E. Main.
After notifying all residents within 185 feet of the property, The Richmond Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing prior to the permit request being presented to city council.
The only concern expressed by the public was the potential noise caused by barking dogs. In response, Mabery has agreed to install a 6-foot vinyl fence around the exercise area, which is estimated to measure 40 by 60 feet. She assured the community dogs will never be left outside overnight.
The permit mandates the facility to obtain all necessary licenses and ensure proper waste disposal. City officials will conduct inspections of the premises both before the opening and regularly throughout the duration of the permit, which expires on January 23, 2030.
