Community Connection shares spice, preservation tips
The scent of herbs filled the Ray County Library as the Special Needs Services (SNS) team guided another hands-on lesson in their ongoing Community Connections series, this time centered on Greek seasoning, infused oils, dehydrated produce and homemade vinegar infusions.
The event continued SNS’s mission of teaching families simple, affordable ways to use local ingredients and preserve seasonal harvests. SNS Executive Director Suzan Breen, Office Manager Katie Jones
and staff member Steven Harold led the class, weaving humor, personal stories and practical instruction into an evening that combined community learning with oldfashioned kitchen wisdom.
Like previous sessions, the class was held in the library’s community room, where tables were covered in herbs, spice jars and fresh produce from the SNS community garden.
