Following voter approval of the three percent sales tax on marijuana in April, Ray County Commissioners must report to the Missouri Department of Revenue which areas tax monies will be used. Commissioners signed the court order during its recent meeting so that necessary paperwork would be in place if a dispensary were to open in the county. Currently, there are no dispensaries in Ray County. Ray County Clerk Heather Graff Maulsby explained the court order details one percent of the tax will be going to both the Ray County Sheriff’s Department and Ray County Jail, and one-half percent to Emergency Management and mental health. In a separate matter, beginning this month, the commissioners will only be in regular sessions from 9 a.m.-noon on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the week.
