City, school board finalize disc golf course layout

Spartan pride spread as the R-XVI District School Board (RSB) finalized and granted permission for the official Richmond disc golf course – “Spartan Ridge at Southview Park.” After months of meetings, collaboration and planning – Richmond City Economic Development Director James Gorham said he is excited for the next steps of the course. The final layout of the 18-hole course was finalized in early June by Gorham, local resident Dr. Ryan Lauck, RSB Director of Operation Jeff Southwick, District Athletic Director Josh McCray and Dynamic Discs Designer Erin McCabe. The course, which will utilize over 17 acres of city/school district property, will be nearly two miles long with some challenging holes. The baskets for the holes will be installed in July after the concrete pads are poured, mentioned Gorham. The tee pads for throwing are 12 feet long, four feet wide and four inches thick.
