Richmond City Council has announced a new service, RTS Waste Services LLC, will begin collecting trash on July 1. Residents are encouraged to place their trash curbside by 6 a.m. on the day of regularly scheduled pickup. Ward One will continue to be collected on Monday, Ward Two on Tuesday, Ward Three on Wednesday, and Ward Four on Thursday. Residents will still need to provide trash containers. Rates may increase by less than $3, and will continue to appear on utility bills. One bulk item per residence may be placed curbside for pick up on the first pick up each month. Yard waste, which will still be collected through October 1, will now be picked up the same day as trash collection. Curbside recycling will not be available. Clothing, aluminum, number one and two plastics, shredded paper, glass and cardboard are accepted at Ideal Industries Community Recycling Center.
