Street closures for the annual Lighted Christmas Parade route were approved during a recent Richmond City Council meeting. The following streets will be closed from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6: • Summit Street from College to Thornton • Thornton Street from Summit to North Main, • West North Main Street from North Thornton to North College • College Street from West North Main Street to Summit Street. In a separate matter, Richmond City Administrator Tonya Willim reported on the fireworks contract for the June American Celebration event. “This year, we’re getting an early start in securing the contract and ensuring everything is in place for another memorable event,” said Willim. “American Celebration is scheduled for Friday, June 27, 2025.” The bid from J&M Displays -- which increased by $900 from 2024, bringing the total cost to $15,900 -- was approved, along with the necessary waivers needed to accommodate the celebration and comply with city ordinances.
