In a highly contest race Gary Blackwell and Geremy Pearce take on incumbent, Scott Childers

for the position of Ray County Sheriff. The Richmond News asked the candidates questions.

BACKGROUND Blackwell: Age 53, of unincorporated Ray County near the Excelsior Springs area, has an associate in applied science and is a current sergeant at Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Childers: Age 44, of Rayville, has some college education and is currently Ray County Sheriff.

Pearce: Age 39, of Rayville, has a high school education and various training. He is a security sergeant, trainer and part-time police captain.
