Authorities share insight into Halloween regulations

Local law enforcement agencies have provided valuable insights regarding the regulations of sex offenders in relation to upcoming Halloween festivities. As the holiday approaches, Clay and Ray County sheriff’s offices emphasize the importance of ensuring community safety, particularly for children who will be out trick-or-treating. On Oct. 31, to ensure the safety of children during Halloween festivities, registered sex offenders are prohibited from having any contact with minors. They are required to stay inside their homes from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., according to Ray County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) Lieutenant Amy Sisson. This restriction aims to protect children who are out trick-ortreating and enjoying Halloween activities. If a registered sex offender needs to leave their home during this time, they must have a legitimate reason, such as going to work or attending a medical emergency.
