The Richmond Spartans pushed across a run in the top of the seventh inning Monday afternoon to get a much-needed 4-3 win at Lawson. The Cardinals scored a pair of runs in the home half of the sixth to tie the game, but Richmond bounced back to regain the lead in its next plate appearance. Brendan Gant came on in relief of starter Laine Todd and shut the Cardinals down in the bottom of the inning for the victory.

Gant struck out two of the four batters he faced to earn the save.

Nathan McGill opened the sixth with a bunt single and got to third base on a single and a passed ball.
