The Spartans accomplished a feat they hadn’t pulled off since 2002 on a windy Monday at Shirkey Golf Course. Richmond easily out-shot the eight-team field with a 389 to win the Class 2, District 7 tournament championship. The Spartans will now head to Chillicothe and the Green Hills Golf Course to play in the sectional tournament Monday.

Summit Christian grabbed the other team qualifying spot for sectional with a 436, which was 29 strokes ahead of third-place Barstow.

Spartan coach Murray Dennis said he was extremely proud of what his team accomplished.
