SKC out of gutter

SPORTING KANSAS CITY forward Daniel Salloi, right, challenges for a 50/50 ball against the Chicago Fire.

KANSAS CITY, Kansas – Sporting Kansas City has rebounded from hitting rock bottom in the Major League Soccer Western Conference standings. For a while, at least.

Sporting, which has its corporate offices in Missouri and plays in Kansas, dropped to last place in the 12-team conference after a 5-1 shellacking July 3 by Los Angeles FC at Children’s Mercy Park in the first game of a two-game homestand. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Sporting got outscored 4-1 the second half.
