After winning two of the three doubles matches, the Higginsville Huskers were in great shape to wrap up another MRVC East tennis title Tuesday afternoon at Maurice Roberts Park in Richmond. Higginsville was coming off an upset loss to Carrollton one day earlier, but bounced back Tuesday for a 5-4 win over the Spartans. The Huskers end conference play with a 7-1 record, and a 9-3 overall mark.
The Spartans (3-3, 5-3) have a chance to claim second place with wins at Carrollton (Thursday) and at home against Knob Noster (Friday).
Despite the loss, coach Julie Baker loved the effort of her senior-dominated lineup.
“So proud of the guys tonight,” she said. “Our seniors showed up on senior night ready to play.”
