Rumbaugh hopes for complete XC season, eyes return to state

RICHMOND – The coronavirus pandemic has influenced Jude Rumbaugh’s expectations for his final cross country season at Richmond. As practice was concluding Aug. 21 at Spartan Stadium, the senior talked about this season’s expectations. “Well, this year, hopefully, we just … keep going and finish out the season,” he said. This spring, Rumbaugh could not finish his junior track season. Practices were underway when COVID-19 halted spring sports activities. If COVID-19 allows for a full season, Rumbaugh’s personal expectations are to “keep getting faster, make it back to state – as long as they have it – and, hopefully, place,” he said. Specifically, Rumbaugh wants to be a top-25 finisher at state. He placed 124th at the 2019 Class 3 state meet. Rumbaugh is part of a complete varsity boys team. The girls do not have a complete team, which requires five runners, per Missouri State High School Activities Association regulations. As of Monday, there were three girls out for varsity…
